ART ON TRACK > ENCROACHMENT

We used the alcove in the front of our train car to create a bathroom for "Encroachment". Our actor, Martin Nirrod, ran around in a towel, shaved, talked on his phone, and much to the amazement of the kids in the audience pretended to use the potty. The toilet was a hallow paper cast made out of cotton and abaca. It weighed about two pounds. When we were installing everything at the train yard before the event, an angry looking security guy marched in and tried to bust me for having a real toilet. ( Safety issue - a porcelain toilet could easily fall over and break toes.) He had to physically shake it to believe it wasn't real. Defiantly a highlight that year.
